Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

282 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application for financial assistance from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 4; if so, if he has had an opportunity to have the application evaluated and examined; if a decision is imminent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25801/00]

My Department received an application for a grant from the 2000 Health and Children allocation of national lottery funds on 19 January 2000 from the organisation referred to by the Deputy. The organisation is seeking funding towards the provision of a youth club for persons with a disability.

As the Deputy is aware there is a set protocol in place in my Department for processing applications for national lottery grants. On receipt of the completed application form it is registered in the finance unit and forwarded to the relevant services division for its assessment, evaluation and recommendation. All applications are then considered in the context of the recommendation from the services division and the overall level of funds available.

The application referred to by the Deputy has been assessed by the services division and is under consideration for a grant from my Department. The organisation will be informed as soon as a decision has been made.
