Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - Superannuation Entitlements.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

381 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has yet considered, in conjunction with the Departments of Finance and the Environment and Local Government, the implications of the European Court of Justice judgment (details supplied) for the superannuation entitlements of former institute of technology lecturers and, in particular, the cases of persons (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25486/00]

The judgment referred to by the Deputy has implications not only for former lecturers in institutes of technology but also for staff employed on a part-time basis in the public sector generally and also in the private sector. All the implications, including the legal implications, are currently under consideration in the Departments involved including, in particular, the Department of Finance in regard to the public sector and the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs in regard to the private sector.
