171 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Defence the plans he has to dispose of Magee Barracks, County Kildare; if he will sell all or part of the property; and if it is still his intention to provide some gain to the local community from such a sale. [26027/00]
As the Deputy is aware, Magee Barracks, Kildare, has been used to accommodate Kosovar refugees since May of last year. The barracks is now also providing accommodation for asylum seekers. In view of those needs, it has not been possible to arrange for the disposal of the property. However, this matter is being kept under review.
The question of making a contribution to the local community will be examined when the property becomes available for disposal.
