Vol. 526 No. 1

Written Answers. - Road Safety.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

211 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the research undertaken by his Department into road accidents; the co-operation that exists with other Departments on this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25943/00]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 701 of 7 November 2000 which sets out the scope of the main road safety research activities now being carried out in accordance with the "Government Strategy for Road Safety 1998-2002". General co-ordination of road safety policy including the monitoring of the Government strategy is carried out with the guidance of a high level group on road safety. This is chaired by my Department and has representation from other relevant Departments and agencies.
