280 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will meet with the Ballybeg Community Education Project, County Waterford to discuss problems such as early school leaving and under-achievement bearing in mind that an area such as Ballybeg suffers from high unemployment and lacks basic recreational facilities. The Deputy refers to a submission to my Department by the chairperson of the Ballybeg community development project regarding a community development programme and "In a Class of their Own", a report on the Ballybeg community.

I have recently acknowledged receipt of the material and it is now under consideration in my Department. The chairperson of the community development project will be contacted at the earliest possible time so that a meeting with senior officials in my Department can be arranged.
