Ceist:

124 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 145 of 11 October 2000 and the lack of availability of information regarding the number of university students who failed to complete first year in 1999, he will arrange for officials from his Department to make contact with each of the six universities to ascertain this information; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My officials have requested the Higher Education Authority to approach the seven universities for details of the numbers of students who enrolled in first year in 1999-2000 and who failed to complete the year. Once the information is supplied to my Department, I will arrange to have it forwarded to the Deputy.
