Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

197 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of his 2000 cattle and sheep headage. [27301/00]

One of the parcels claimed by the person named in his 2000 area aid application overlaps with a parcel of land claimed by another applicant. Both herdowners have been written to with a view to resolving the problem and a response is awaited. No payments can issue until this matter has been satisfactorily resolved.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

198 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid their tuberculosis reactor grant. [27368/00]

The person concerned was paid reactor grants in respect of five cows on 22 November. A payment in respect of a further cow is currently being processed by the district veterinary office and will issue shortly. However, on foot of a court order served on my Department, it will be necessary to deduct a small amount from that payment and to issue it to a third party.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

199 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath has not to date received a reply regarding payment of his special beef premium; if he will ensure that this is fully reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27402/00]

The person named submitted two applications for special beef premiums in 1999 on a total of 40 animals. He submitted a suckler cow application for four animals and a ewe premium application for 30 ewes. Total number of livestock units applied on was 40.9 livestock units. His area aid declaration was for 28.49 hectares. This resulted in a stocking density calculation of 1.43 livestock units per hectare. Extensification premium is payable only to applicants whose stocking density is less than 1.4 livestock units per hectare.

The second special beef premium application was submitted to the special beef premium unit on 21 December 1999. In July 2000 the applicant requested that this application be included as part of the 2000 scheme in order to reduce the stocking density and qualify for 1999 extensification premium. Under EU regulations, it is not permissible to withdraw a special beef premium application and have it deferred to a new scheme year. The person named has requested the withdrawal of the December application on two occasions and correspondence was sent to him on 10 July and 10 October 2000. The correspondence of 17 October referred to has only come to the Department's attention as an attachment to this question. A reply will issue directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Beverley Flynn

Ceist:

200 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive a 1999 special beef premium payment. [27403/00]

The person named submitted special beef premium applications in respect of a total of 64 animals under three different herd numbers. Payments totalling £2,705.10 in respect of 30 of these animals has issued to date. Payment in respect of the remaining 34 animals will issue as soon as possible.

Beverley Flynn

Ceist:

201 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the delay in processing an area aid application for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [27404/00]

The 2000 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed with no outstanding errors and the area for payment purposes has been determined at 23.60 hectares. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

202 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when an area aid payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27405/00]

The person named submitted application for special beef premium for one animal on 1 February 2000. Advance payment of 60% of premium due was issued on 16 October 2000. Balancing payments will be made in 2001, in line with EU rules.
