Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

139 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will examine a case (details supplied) in County Carlow with a view to having compensation approved to allow the business to be rebuilt following the recent flooding and ensure that the farm is equipped to withstand future flooding. [27607/00]

My Department does not operate a specific scheme to provide compensation for losses incurred due to the recent flooding. The Government has announced a humanitarian aid scheme which aims, inter alia, to provide financial assistance relating to claimed loss of income or extreme hardship due to flooding. The scheme is being administered on behalf of the Government by the Irish Red Cross. I have arranged that an application form be forwarded to the person concerned.
