Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disability Payments.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

55 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason people on disability payment are not eligible for the social economy scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27901/00]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the categories of persons on disability payments eligible to be grant-aided under the social economy programme are persons in receipt of disability allowance, invalidity pension or blind persons pension, and persons in receipt of disability benefit for six months or more who obtain approval from the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs to engage in work of a rehabilitative nature.

Eligibility criteria for grant aided employees, under the social economy programme, is set out in Annex 2 of the Framework Document. I will arrange for a copy of the Framework Document to be forwarded to Deputy Naughten.
