Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Ceist:

247 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 197 of 18 April 2000, he will give the waiting times in each department for each community care area in the Eastern Regional Health Authority; if waiting times have improved for the community care area mentioned in the aforementioned reply; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28493/00]

As indicated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 338 of 24 October 2000 the information requested by the Deputy is not routinely gathered by my Department. I have asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to communicate the information requested, including updating the information supplied in my reply to the earlier question in relation to waiting lists in one health centre, directly to the Deputy.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority has advised me that it was unable to provide the information sought by the Deputy in Parliamentary Question No. 338 of 24 October 2000 in a timely manner due to the industrial relations dispute it was experiencing. The information is, however, now being finalised and will be forwarded directly to the Deputy by the authority as soon as possible.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

248 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will receive radiation treatment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28503/00]

I would like to point out that the provision of medical treatment is the responsibility of the appropriate health board-health authority, in this case the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate this case and to reply directly to the Deputy.
