Ceist:155 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received payment of her one parent family allowance. [28884/00]

When the person concerned applied for one-parent family payment on 30 August 2000, she stated that she was receiving maintenance from the father of her child. However, there is conflicting evidence with regard to the amount of maintenance support involved and further investigations are required to verify the amount and method of maintenance payments. As part of this process, the Department wrote to the person concerned on 5 December 2000, requesting her to forward a statement from the father of her child confirming the weekly amounts of maintenance paid and whether it is still being paid.
As soon as a response is received from the person concerned, and any other investigations necessary are completed, a decision will be made on her claim and she will be notified of the outcome.
