Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Nursing Staff.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

239 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 92 of 9 November 2000, he will re-examine the case of a student nurse (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29511/00]

I have been advised that a meeting was held on 20 November 2000 between the South Eastern Health Board and the Irish Nurses' Organisation. The board proposes to hold a conversion process for temporary public health nurses who meet agreed criteria.

A list of names was given to the INO of all temporary public health nurses working within the South Eastern Health Board. This list included the nurse referred to by the Deputy. The board is currently awaiting confirmation of the length of service of those named. It is hoped that on receipt of this information agreement can be reached on appointments from the list to existing vacancies.
