Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

244 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reasons a person (details supplied) in County Carlow was not issued with a medical card; the further reason the person was informed that a card would issue and then received a note of refusal; if a card can be immediately issued; and if he will expedite the application. [29599/00]

The issue of determination of the eligibility of persons for medical cards is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the health board, in this case the South Eastern Health Board.

I have contacted the chief executive officer on behalf of the person mentioned by the Deputy in his question and have asked that he have the matter investigated and that he contact the Deputy directly.

Questions Nos. 245, 246 and 247 taken with Question No. 191.
