292 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has satisfied himself with Wicklow County Council's compliance with the strategic planning guidelines; his views on an article published in a national newspaper (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. Following the publication of the Strategic Planning Guidelines for the Greater Dublin Area, in April 1999, I formally requested that each planning authority in the greater Dublin area should ensure that its development plan is in line with the strategy set out in the guidelines. As is indicated in the newspaper report to which the Deputy refers, my Department is currently examining draft variations to the Wicklow county development plan in the context of compliance with the strategy set out in the Guidelines. The Department will shortly write to Wicklow County Council seeking a report on the matter.
