Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

406 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a two line acknowledgement has been his Department's only response to a request for the provision of additional accommodation for a school (details supplied) in County Wexford which was first made in June 1999; when his Department will process this application; when the school will have the additional accommodation provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29414/00]

My Department has recently completed an assessment of the long-term enrolment projections for the school referred to in the details supplied and a technical inspection of the school building will take place as soon as possible.

The Deputy will appreciate that the application from the school in question for improved accommodation is one of a large number on hand within my Department. Within this constraint, the school's application is being processed as quickly as possible.

It is too early to say at this point if funding will be approved, however, the school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
