48 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason for the delay in the finalisation of the retail planning guidelines in view of the fact that he promised to have these published at the end of October 2000; if the draft guidelines as previously revealed will be fully adhered to; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Question Nos. 27 and 48 together.
The final retail planning guidelines and the Goodbody report will be published shortly. The guidelines have been finalised having regard to the submissions received during the public consultation process on the draft guidelines and the findings of the Goodbody report on the economic impact of the implementation of the draft retail planning guidelines on the retail sector.
I indicated in my reply to Questions Nos. 106 and 338 of 8 November 2000 that the final retail planning guidelines would be published within the next few weeks.
