96 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the position with regard to Arklow Harbour Commissioners who are waiting to implement the integrated development plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29959/00]
Officials of my Department have had discussions with Arklow Harbour Commissioners in relation to the recently received integrated development plan for Arklow Port, the preparation of which was funded by my Department.
The plan proposes a course of action which is outside the recommendations of the independent review of State regional ports and harbours, KPMG, June 1999. The scope for such proposals, in the context of the existing legislative framework, laid down by the Harbours Acts, is currently being examined.
