95 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans he has to amend the biotoxin monitoring programme following a recent meeting with shell fish producers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29918/00]
The national biotoxin monitoring programme continues to be comprehensively reviewed and strengthened. The regional meetings being held with shellfish producers will provide important feedback from the industry which will be assessed as part of the ongoing review. Work to enhance the programme is designed to ensure that the highest standards are in place to protect public health and safeguard the position of the Irish shellfish industry on home and export markets.
