Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

230 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will request a report from the Garda authorities regarding the ongoing harassment of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 whose home has been repeatedly vandalised; the reason prosecutions have not taken place despite the concerns expressed at neighbourhood watch meetings and the gardaí being aware of the culprits involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30172/00]

I am informed by Garda authorities that the gardaí at Mountjoy and Fitzgibbon Street Garda stations have dealt with numerous complaints made by the person referred to by the Deputy over a long period of time.

Each of these complaints have been individually investigated, and the complainant has also been visited by members of the Garda Síochána up to the rank of inspector. All calls that this individual makes to the gardaí are responded to promptly, and the gardaí deal with these complaints in a courteous and respectful manner.

I am further informed that local units patrol this area on foot and by mobile on a regular basis. However, to date there have been no prosecutions from any of these alleged incidents.
