27 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress made in the review of the National Monuments Acts, 1930 to 1994; when the consolidated national monuments Bill will be produced; when she will publish an outline of the issues raised in the public consultation process; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to Parliamentary Question No. 103 of 14 Samhain 2000. As I stated before, it is my intention to review the national monuments legislation so as to ensure the protection of the archaeological, architectural and historic heritage. I plan to bring draft proposals for legislation to the Cabinet during the first half of 2001.

I propose to publish the issues document in January 2001.
