Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

947 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the amount paid for a site for the location of an interpretative centre in Ballycroy, County Mayo; the name of the auctioneer who administered the sale of the site to her Department; the fees the auctioneer was paid for this transaction; when the site was submitted for the Department's consideration; and the name of the person who identified the site and submitted the relevant details. [1194/01]

The purchase of a site for the proposed visitor centre at Ballycroy has not yet been concluded. A draft contract relating to the proposed purchase is currently with this Department's legal representatives. Brendan Tuohy & Co., Auctioneers & Valuers, Westport, County Mayo, are acting on behalf of the vendor in this matter. The auctioneer's fees are a matter for the vendor. The vendor originally made an offer of land for sale on 25 November 1998. The boundaries of the site now being purchased were agreed in November 2000. It is not considered appropriate to publish the identity of the vendor or the agreed sale price.
