Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

1006 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if a Land Registry dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo can be expedited; and when it will be completed. [1243/01]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged in the Land Registry on 23 November 1999. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.

I am further informed that notice has been served on the registered owner on 7 December 2000 and that queries issued to the lodging solicitors on the same date. The application cannot proceed until a full and satisfactory reply to the queries raised has been received and the notice served on the registered owner has been dealt with.
