Vol. 529 No. 4

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

189 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if receipts amounting to £15,000 from suppliers are accepted by his Department in respect of a new house grant where the house was built by direct labour and where a number of builders were involved in the work. [3123/01]

Where an applicant builds a house by direct labour, a new house grant may be payable where a contractor(s), registered for VAT and holding either a current form C2 or tax clearance certificate, is engaged on the construction of the house and provides labour to a value of not less than £6,000. In addition, materials having a value, including VAT, of not less than £9,000 must be used in the construction of the house.
