I have a substantial programme of legislation reflecting the broad spectrum of my departmental responsibilities which I propose to progress in the coming year with the continuing co-operation of the Houses and the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel to the Government.

The following published Bills are currently at various stages before the Houses: Industrial Designs Bill, 2000; Carers Leave Bill, 2000; Protection of Employees (Part-Time Work) Bill, 2000; Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 1999; Company Law Enforcement Bill, 2000; Patents (Amendment) Bill, 1999; Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill, 2000; Nitrigin Éireann Teoranta Bill, 2000.

The following Bills are expected to be published in the coming year: Industrial and Provi dent Societies (Amendment) Bill; Work Permits Bill; Competition and Mergers Bill.
Work will continue in my Department on the following unpublished Bills: Companies (Amendment) (Audit) Bill; Company Law Consolidation Bill; I will also be progressing a comprehensive programme of secondary legislation, including the transposition of EU Directives in the coming year.
