Vol. 529 No. 4

Written Answers. - Commission Investigation.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

94 Mr. Gilmore asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the action she will take from reports based on an affidavit sworn in the High Court, that the Fair Trades Commission may have been misled in regard to the ownership of a company (details supplied) in the investigation it carried out in 1989; if she has considered asking the Garda Síochána to conduct an investigation as to whether perjury may have been committed in evidence given to the commission; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3018/01]

I am aware of the press reports referred to by the Deputy although, to my knowledge, they were not based on an affidavit.

I understand the matters to which the Deputy refers may be at issue in the High Court proceedings in question and, in these circumstances, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this stage.

Question No. 95 answered with Question No. 57.
