96 Mr. Kenny asked the Taoiseach the number and proportion of higher executive officers in his Department who progressed to assistant principal in each year from 1988 to 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2839/01]

97 Mr. Kenny asked the Taoiseach the number and proportion of administrative officers who progressed in his Department to assistant principal in each year from 1988 to 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2853/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 96 and 97 together.

The number of higher executive officers that progressed to assistant principal in my Department between 1988 and 1997 was ten in total. The number of administrative officers that progressed to assistant principal between 1988 and 1997 was three in total. Details of promotions in each specific year are follows.

Unfortunately the information requested by the Deputy in relation to proportions is not readily available. It would take some time to extract this. It is considered that the amount of time and effort involved in doing so would not be justified. However if the Deputy wishes to pursue this matter, my Department could arrange to make the information available at a later stage.
