Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

154 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive a cattle headage grant for 2000. [4478/01]

The person named will be paid his entitlement under the 2000 cattle headage scheme within the next seven days.

John Perry

Ceist:

155 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) and grant an increase in this person's BSE compensation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4479/01]

Article 4(2)(a) of Statutory Instrument No. 195 of 1990, provides for the appointment of an independent valuer in the event that a herd owner does not accept the value placed on his animals at the time of first valuation.

The herd to which the Deputy refers was first valued on 7 February and I understand that the herd owner has not indicated to my Department that he wishes to proceed to a second stage valuation. Officials of my Department are endeavouring to contact the herd owner to progress the arrangements for finalisation of valuation.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

156 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received headage and premia for 2000. [4480/01]

The area aid unit did not receive a 2000 area aid application from the person named, therefore no headage or premia payments could have been made to him. However, in recent days a copy of his application along with a certificate of postage has been received to support his contention that he submitted his 2000 area aid application on time. In the light of these circumstances his 2000 area aid application has now been accepted.

The person named claimed a total of 10.18 hectares on his area aid application. Following processing of his application an area of 9.74 hectares was determined. This represents a difference of 0.44 hectares or 4.52% between the area claimed and that determined.

Under Article 9 of EU Regulation 3887/92, the penalty is based on double the difference when the difference between area claimed and area found is between 3% and 20%. Therefore, in this case a penalty of 0.88 hectares has to apply, leaving the area for payment purposes at 8.86 hectares. Any payments due will issue as soon as possible.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

157 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will expedite an agreed revaluation in relation to a BSE depopulation case (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will finalise arrangements for a further valuation as soon as possible. [4525/01]

An independent valuer has been appointed in this case and arrangements have been made for this herd to be visited today.
