Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

145 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will arrange to issue additional milk quota to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [5402/01]

The Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal considered an application from the person named for additional quota at its meeting on 13 November 2000. The tribunal did not, however, recommend an allocation of quota in this case. The person named has been notified of the outcome of his application. Due to the large volume of applications submitted during the current milk quota year and the limited quantity of quota available for distribution, the tribunal is not in a position to re-examine this case during the current milk quota year. However, he may apply when application forms for the 2001-02 milk quota year become available. The forms will be available after 1 April 2001 from milk purchasers and from the milk policy division, Depart ment of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

Ceist:

146 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will make arrangements to issue additional temporary milk quota to a person (details supplied). [5403/01]

An application from the person named for a temporary allocation of additional quota under the restricted herds reserve was considered by the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal at its meeting on 30 November 2000 and a temporary allocation was made. The person named has been notified of the outcome of his application. However, the person in question has written to my Department appealing this decision and his case will be re-examined by the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal as soon as possible.
