Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

297 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the individual with responsibility for the administration of the essential repairs grants scheme; the number of applications for the grant received by Mayo County Council in 2000; the number of applications received by Westport Urban District Council, Ballina Urban District Council and Castlebar Urban District Council in 2000; the number of applications dealt with; the number grant assisted; and the number refused for each body in 2000, giving details on an annual and or quarterly basis. [5912/01]

The administration of the essential repairs grants scheme is a matter for each local authority. My Department's role relates primarily to the recoupment of a proportion of local authority expenditure on the payment of grants. Certain information on activity under the essential repairs grants scheme is published in my Department's annual housing bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The Deputy should note that the information published relates to activity at county level and includes the urban district councils, which do not appear separately.

Information in relation to 2000 is being compiled and is due for publication at the end of March. Information in relation to activity by the urban district councils concerned has been sought and will be sent to the Deputy as soon as it is available.
