Ceist:

403 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the capital projects funded by his Department in the Kildare South constituency during 2000; the amount of funding in each case; the proposed capital projects by his Department in 2001; the amount of funding in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5824/01]

Following is a list of the capital grants which I allocated to County Kildare under the 2000 Sports Capital Programme. The scheme is administered on a county rather than constituency basis.

Under the 2001 Sports Capital Programme, applications for funding were invited by way of public advertisement on 15 and 17 December 2000 and the closing date for receipt of applications was 9 February 2001. Over 1,450 applications have been received. Until all of these applications have been assessed it will not be possible to state the value of applications and the level of grants to be allocated to projects under the 2001 programme. I intend to make allocations under this programme as soon as all applications received under the programme have been assessed in accordance with the guidelines, terms and conditions of the programme. An amount of £20 million is provided for in the Estimates for expenditure in 2001.
