Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Ceist:

425 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the possibility of providing a second level school in Ratoath, County Meath, to accommodate the existing and anticipated population growth in that area. [5569/01]

The establishment of a second level school in Ratoath is currently being examined by my Department in light of development proposals for the area and the capacity of existing schools, particularly in Dunshaughlin and Ashbourne, to meet the demand for pupil places. Consultations are ongoing between my Department's planning section and post primary school providers serving the area. When the views of all relevant parties are obtained and considered, a decision will be made on the most appropriate means by which the post primary needs of the area should be met.
