456 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the provisions which are available in his Department to have a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with special needs placed in a suitable school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6018/01]
I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers.
My Department has sanctioned seven hours' home tuition per week to meet the educational needs of the pupil in question pending the arrangement of a suitable school placement to address the child's long-term needs.
My Department's inspectorate has been investigating a number of possible placement options for the child in question and a report from the inspectorate is due very shortly.
I can assure the Deputy that every effort is being made to secure a suitable school placement for the child in question as quickly as possible.
