Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

David Stanton

Ceist:

454 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if an inspector's report has been submitted outlining the need to appoint a resource teacher to Bunscoil Mhuire primary school, O'Brien's Place, Youghal, County Cork for a person (details supplied); if so, when he will sanction such an appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5999/01]

A member of my Department's inspectorate visited the school in question recently to assess the needs of the child referred to by the Deputy.

I understand that the inspector will be submitting his recommendations in the very near future. Once the inspector has reported, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.

Ceist:

455 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received or is awaiting a report on a person (details supplied) who is a pupil at Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire national school, Buttevant, County Cork regarding the possible provision of resource teacher hours; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6000/01]

I am aware of the case referred to by the Deputy.

My Department received an application for resource teacher support on behalf of the person in question. However, I understand that the information submitted with the application did not of itself justify the allocation of resource teacher support.

Further information in support of the application is to be submitted to my Department. As soon as this is received, my Department will be in a position to provide a suitable response to the needs of the person in question.
