142 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Defence the composition of the Army Equitation School in terms of the officers attached to this school; and their rank and role in the functioning of the school. [5944/01]

There are currently nine officers appointed or attached to the Army Equitation School. The various ranks and appointments of these officers are as follows:

143 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Defence if he will give details of the horses bought by the Army Equitation School in the past two years; and if he will give details of the achievements of the school, in particular in relation to both riders and horses over the same period. [5945/01]

During 1999, five horses were bought for the Army Equitation School while four were leased. During 2000, a further three horses were leased while an additional five were purchased. The Army Equitation School won the following international classes in 1999:

a.Capt. John Ledingham won nine speed classes riding Millstreet Ruby at the following shows: St. Gallen, Aachen, Hickstead, Donaueshingen, Athens and Tripoli.

b.Capt. Ledingham was also a member of the winning Nations cup team at Athens riding Lismakin.

c.Capt. Gerry Flynn won six speed classes riding Diamond Explosion at the following shows: Berlin, Eindhoven, Modena, Millstreet, Athens, Tripoli.
d.Capt. Flynn also won the Grand Prix at Eindhoven riding Carrigh Dubh.
e.Capt. Flynn won four classes riding Rincoola Abu at the following shows: Weisbaden, Athens (Nations Cup), Tripoli (Grand Prix).
The Army Equitation School won the following international classes in 2000.
a.Capt. Flynn won four speed classes riding Diamond Explosion at the following shows: Helsinki, Falsterbo and Millstreet.
b.Capt. Flynn was a member of three winning Nation Cup teams at the following shows: Helsinki and Falsterbo riding Rincoola Abu and Drammen riding Carrigh Dubh.
c.Capt. Flynn won the Grand Prix at Helsinki riding Rincoola Abu.
d.Capt. Flynn won two Derby qualifiers riding Rincoola Abu at the following shows: Berlin and Eindhoven.
e.Lt. Shane Carey won three speed classes riding Galtee Beg at the following shows: Compiegne (2) and Millstreet.
f.Lt. Carey was a member of three winning Nations Cup teams at the following shows: Helsinki riding The Prophets Thumb, Drammen and Falsterbo riding Shannon Dale.
g.Lt. Carey won the Grand Prix qualifier at Helsinki riding Shannon Dale.
h.Lt. Danielle Quinlivan won a speed class riding Castlepollard at Lyon.
i.Lt. David O'Brien won the Grand Prix at Cavan riding Boherdeal Clover.
The Army Equitation School won the following national classes in 1999:
a.Capt. Flynn won the speed class on Diamond Explosion at Bel Air in County Wicklow.
b.Capt. Flynn won the Grade A qualifier at the RDS International Horse Show in August on Rincoola Abu.
c.Lt. Lee Murphy won four speed classes. He won two on Togher at Gorey in County Wexford and at Blessington in County Wicklow. He won the Grand Prix at Kildysart in County Clare on Meanus. He won the speed class on Carlingford Bay at Ballivor in County Meath.
d.Lt. Carey won two jumpoff classes on Galtee Beg at Cavan.
e.Lt. Carey won four classes on Cruise Hill at the following shows: Rolestown, Blessington, Ballina and Cavan.
f.Lt. Carey won the Grand Prix at Rolestown, County Dublin riding The Prophets Thumb.
g.Lt. Quinlivan won three speed classes on Castlepollard at the following shows: Cavan, Eglington and Broadmeadows.
The Army Equitation School won the following national classes in 2000:
a.Capt. Flynn won three classes riding Diamond Explosion at the following shows: Bel Air, Limerick and Broadmeadows.
b.Capt. Flynn won the Grand Prix at Limerick and the Grand Prix at Kildysart riding Cruise Hill.
c.Lt. Carey won the Grand Prix at Thomastown riding The Prophets Thumb and the BC Championship qualifier at the RDS riding Laughtons Lass.
d.Lt. O'Brien won the power and speed class riding Killone Abbey at Callaghane in County Waterford.
e.Lt. O'Brien won the speed class at Stepaside in County Dublin and the two phase class at Ballivor in County Meath riding Killossery.
f.Lt. O'Brien won the Grade A championship qualifier and the final riding River Boyne in August at the RDS International Horse Show.
g.Lt. Quinlivan won the speed class at Blessington riding Castlepollard.
The Army Equitation School renewed participation in eventing in 2000 and Lt. Murphy was a winner of the novice section at Camphire riding Kildalton and at Kilcooley Abbey riding Cill Aine.
