Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

425 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 278 of 27 February 2001, he will state whether there are rules or regulations of his Department which prevent houses provided under the rental subsidy scheme from being offered for a tenant purchase scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7775/01]

As indicated in my reply to Question No. 278 of 27 February 2001 there is advisedly no provision in the rental subsidy scheme for the purchase of individual houses by tenants. In the absence of such a provision houses provided under the scheme cannot be offered for purchase to individual tenants.
