142 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if there is a shortage of staff in the office of the Western Development Commission; if the commission has made an application for extra funding to recruit additional staff; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In line with the practice in non-commercial State bodies, my consent and the consent of the Minister for Finance are required in relation to the remuneration and numbers of staff employed by the Western Development Commission. The commission has been in correspondence with me in relation to an increase in staff. I am in communication with the Minister for Finance in relation to this matter, including the cost implications.
