Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

456 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve an application for school transport to a national school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where the parents have organised this transport over the past number of years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9791/01]

The position generally is that a minimum of seven eligible children is required to establish a primary school transport service under the school transport scheme. To be eligible children must live at least two miles from and be attending their nearest appropriate school.

If there are at least seven eligible children offering for transport, the names, addresses and dates of birth of all the eligible pupils should be submitted to the school transport section of my Department for consideration.
