Written Answers - Educational Disadvantage.
The committee to which the Deputy refers is the Educational Disadvantage Committee to be established under section 32 of the Education Act, 1998.
In accordance with the Act, I am currently engaged in consultations with patrons, national associations of parents, recognised trade unions and staff associations representing teachers and others on the establishment of the committee. The committee will be established following completion of these consultations.
The legislation does not prescribe the nature of the relationship between the committee and the NCCA. The development of any such relationship will be primarily a matter between the committee, when established, and the NCCA.
