Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Harbours and Piers.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

154 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources when the study on the future of Dunmore East Harbour, County Waterford, into the necessity for a new or much enlarged harbour is expected to be completed. [13614/01]

The review of infrastructural requirements, current and future, needed at Dunmore East fishery harbour was completed in February. The review offers a number of options for consideration – all of the options submitted are currently being evaluated within my Department. Infrastructural enhancement and a modernisation programme for Dunmore East fishery harbour will be considered within the context of the national development plan. The plan, which covers the period 2000 to 2006, provides for a spend of £60 million, 76.19 million, on the development of fishery harbours and related facilities.
