176 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will sign the compulsory purchase order for lands in Westport to build council houses; when he expects the appeals to be held; and when will he sign the order for the oral hearing on the cumpulsory purchase orders. Westport Urban District Council submitted the Westport Urban District Council Compulsory Purchase Order, Acquisition of Land for Housing, Order 1999 for my confirmation. The functions of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government on the determination of compulsory purchase orders were transferred to An Bord Pleanála under the Planning and Development Act, 2000, with effect from 1 January 2001. Any enquiries in this matter should therefore now be referred to An Bord Pleanála.
