190 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will take steps to expedite an application for registration by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14365/01]
I am informed by the Regis trar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 3 November 2000.
I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a precise completion date for the application concerned at this stage.
The application is receiving attention and requisitions have been sent to the lodging solicitor on 16 May 2001. These requisitions must be fully responded to before the case can proceed further.
