256 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children when he proposes to introduce legislation to have statutory registration of a number of medical professions such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropody and social workers. [15125/01]
Agreement was reached in October 2000 with a number of professional bodies on a set of proposals for statutory registration of certain health and social care professionals, which the professional bodies have brought back to their wider membership. Most of the feedback to date has been very positive. The heads of a Bill are being drafted and a first draft is expected shortly.
