315 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will make a contribution towards the cost of repairing a roadway which is used on a regular basis and on which a national monument is located. [15534/01]
My remit extends to conserving and maintaining those national monuments and historic properties that are already in my care and which number in excess of 700 sites. All available resources are fully committed to these for the foreseeable future. I am, therefore, precluded from assisting in the funding of the repair of the roadway referred to by the Deputy. I suggest that the Deputy pursue this matter with the relevant local authority which is responsible for the maintenance of public roads.
