48 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number of projects in the national development plan for which her Department is responsible which are not to proceed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14534/01]
There is only one project under the national development plan, for which I have responsibility, which will not now proceed.
The national development plan provides for the development of a light rail network involving surface and underground lines. Proposals for the underground section in the city centre and the northside line have been superseded by the Government's approval, in principle, of the development of a metro system in line with the DTO strategy.
