218 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway did not receive an extensification payment for 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20057/01]
Under EU Regulations introduced under Agenda 2000 a farmer must indicate that he/she wishes to be considered for extensification premium at an early stage in a year before his/her eligibility can be assessed when the year ends. The form which was used for allowing farmers express their interest in obtaining extensification premium for 2000, form EXPR1, also provided for a farmer to indicate that he/she was not interested in extensification premium.
When completing the form the person named indicated that he did not wish to be considered for 2000 extensification premium.
