Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

236 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance if he will secure a definite date from the Office of Public Works as to when removal of the silt bank of a river (details supplied) in County Mayo will commence. [19921/01]

As pointed out in my reply to the Deputy's question of 19 June in this matter, the removal of the silt bank at the outfall of the Castlebar river into Lough Cullin is subject to a number of variables, that is, ground conditions, low water levels in the lake and agreement on timing of the works with the North-Western Regional Fisheries Board. Therefore, it is not possible to give a definite date for the carrying out of the work at this time.
