Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Liquor Licensing Laws.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

416 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the Garda has received complaints from local residents that an industrial building (details supplied) in Dublin 1 is used as an illegal drinking club giving rise to anti-social activities at weekends; and if appropriate action will be taken in this regard. [19665/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Bridewell Garda Station has no record of complaints from local residents regarding illegal drinking at the building in question. I am further informed that one complaint was received on 29 June 2001 in relation to noisy parties being held in the building and that the complainant was advised in relation to the taking out of a civil summons for noise pollution. I am assured, however, that the neighbourhood policing unit at the Bridewell will investigate this matter and that all units, both mobile and foot, will pay particular attention to this area during weekend periods.
