Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

465 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he would allow secondary schools amalgamate two EPT positions, currently capped at 11 hours per week, so that an attractive employment opportunity of 22 hours could be offered to prospective recruits; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19582/01]

The EPT scheme provides for the award of an EPT contract to a teacher who is time tabled for a full school year for a minimum of 11 hours per week and up to a maximum of 22 hours per week. There is no provision for the combination of hours worked with separate employers for the purpose of the award of an EPT contract. There are no plans at present to amend the terms of the EPT scheme.
