Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Inspectors.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

493 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of school inspectors who are working permanently in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19907/01]

School inspectors are not assigned permanently to specific areas of the country. At present, one primary and two post-primary inspectors are assigned to County Donegal. Additionally, a primary inspector based in Sligo has responsibility for special schools in County Donegal. In recent months, one inspector assigned to County Donegal retired from service and temporary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the continuation of key Inspectorate services in the county, pending the recruitment of further staff to the Inspectorate.
