Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

496 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science the position on the services it is proposed to provide to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 whose case has been the subject of a number of previous parliamentary questions and for whom his Department has not provided a service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19993/01]

My Department's inspectorate has reported on the case in question. The inspectorate has reported that the child in question does not meet the criteria for accessing resource teaching support as set out in the Department's circular 8/99.

However, the school in question has the services of a full-time learning support teacher and I understand the child referred to by the Deputy has been receiving one hour per week learning support.
